City of Fairfax Fire Dept. Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

Mar 01, 2007 The City of Fairfax Fire Department is developing a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). This is a program that trains civilians in first aid and basic search and rescue techniques in case of a disaster and the fire and police resources are depleted. This is not a volunteer fire program, this is a program to train you how to work in a team to help your neighbors in case of a disaster. Not only are these skills necessary in a large scale disaster, they can be lifesaving even in accidents and emergencies around the house.

The city is currently seeking interested volunteers from Fairfax City to become the founding CERT for Fairfax City.

There will be an informational meeting tomorrow night (Tuesday, January 9th) at City Hall at 6:00 PM. Training for the program will begin in February.

If you are interested or have questions (including directions to the meeting) please feel free to contact Matt West: matthew.west@bakerbotts.com

Thank you for your time.
