911 Anniversary Memorial Mass Update

Aug 26, 2002 We have just received word from our State Deputy, Jack Michalski, that the Memorial Mass at the National Shrine in the District on September 11 is open to all members of the Knights of Columbus. Regalia not required (but encouraged) for Fourth Degree Knights. Furthermore, Jack wants to see Virginia provide a large contingent at this Mass.

We recognize that this Mass is taking place in the middle of the week, which may make it difficult in trying to get off from work. However, when you consider the ultimate sacrifice paid by more than 2,000 Americans a year ago, as well as the sacrifice their families have made (all of which was not voluntary), we should do everything we can to make it to this Mass.

The Mass is scheduled to begin at 2PM, but it is advisable to arrive earlier (for those who have never been to the Shrine, there’s a lot to see… good chance to take the Tour of Faith!). We will meet at Providence Hall at Noon for anyone who wishes to ride down as a group. Otherwise, you can meet us there.

If you plan to attend, please let us know as soon as possible. We need to report to the State Deputy with a tentative count by this Wednesday, August 28. Please let us know how many tickets you will need (each participant, be they Knight or otherwise, must have a ticket to get in!). If you have already reported with an Assembly, then please do not report to us (we don’t want to duplicate requests). You may E-mail us at djtoddjr@erols.com.
