Mar 14, 2004The Father Bader Scholarship program for High School students is open to current graduating High School Students that are pursuing higher education in the fall. They must be children of a Knight of Columbus in good standing (or in good standing at time of death) in a council in Virginia.
The competition is open from January 1st until March 14th each year. There are 3 forms to be filled out and these three forms must be back in my hands by March 14th or they cannot be considered for the competition. One is for the Financial Secretary to fill out and certify; one is for the Principal or designated person at the High School to complete; and the other for the student and his/her parents to complete. Again, it must be emphasized that all three must be returned and in my hands by March 14th. Every year I receive a couple of forms after the date and cannot consider them because they are late.
Competition is based on financial need, grade point averages and on the students involvement in their Church, Community, and High School. I've attached a set of forms and an information sheet for your convenience.

In addition to the High School program, we do extend scholarships on a one time basis to Knights and their spouses who are members in good standing in a Virginia Council strictly on a financial need. If there is a severe financial hardship and the Knight or his spouse is in need of some assistance they can apply by sending a letter to me outlining their need and financial situation requesting assistance. This can be done at any time during the year. The request will be forwarded to the State Deputy for consideration by the State Officers.
