I usually don't send out mass mailings for charitable events, but this is a great cause. A few years back Walter Reed set up a program called Team River Runner. TRR helps wounded vets recover by exposing them to kayaking.
This coming Sunday they are hosting a biathlon fund raiser with adaptive athlete participants. The event is the Blood, Sweat, Toil and Triumph Biathlon Sunday, 12 Nov 8:30 AM. Registration is at the Washington Canoe Club (underneath Key Bridge). It will be a 4 mile run and 1 mile paddle (boats shorter than ten feet and plastic or over 40 pounds) with classes for men and women, individuals and teams, and $500 first prizes. They expect a good turnout of adaptive athletes from Walter Reed and Navy Medical. They are seeking participants, volunteers, and donations.
