I am pleased to announce that members of Father Diamond Council – working
in conjunction with the St. Vincent de Paul Society – successfully provided
the following to needy families and members of the Fairfax community:
58 Christmas Baskets and Gifts
52 turkeys
55 $10 gift certificates, and
a $100 donation to a lady with special needs
We had quite a bit of help assembling and delivering these items and I would like to
specifically thank the following folks:
Mary Navarro and all the St. Vincent de Paul folks who did so much work to set
everything up for a smooth assembly and delivery of food and gifts.
Ben Stack for all his help with the gifts (picking up after church and helping out at
the storage facility)
Hank Urban, Jack Cotner and Larry Novak – 2 big trucks and a lot of hard work (I personally think they are all lying about their age!)
ALL of the generous folks who helped to set up the hall, assemble the baskets, and
deliver the baskets and toys (not naming everyone here as I might leave someone out
-- you know who you are -- thank you very much).
A SPECIAL THANKS to the whole Leightley family:
Al Leightley and his son Tre for helping out at the Hall (as they both did
at Thanksgiving) loading up vehicles and handing out turkeys.
Both of Al’s daughters and their husbands for delivering baskets and gifts for
2 trips (4 families) each!
It really is a great testament to Al to see his family all chip in and help the Knights
and the St. Leo’s/Fairfax community in the holiday spirit of charity.
It was a very successful holiday season and thanks again to all who helped!
Fraternally,
Bill Ward
